I closed out a few remaining issues (one with the repo change and one that
affects configuration.  I made the auditing's principal resolver have a
constructor which is consistent with our policy of having required
properties set via constructor and optional ones set via setter <-- this
should become more fun once we start using autowiring more).

I also think I reduced the parent pom's dependencies about as low as they
can go (turns out we use servlet-api in a number of places!)

Any remaining items we should capture for 3.4 or should we cut the release?
