I'm investigating conversion options and documenting them on https://issues.jasig.org/browse/CAS-997. I had good results with the tutorial Matt mentioned, and it was workable but not perfect. I'm resigned for using a tool to get most of the way there, followed by manual work (including scripts) to get the remainder. I'd love a tool that magically converted it, but the cas3 repo has some complexities that I'm doubtful will be handled automagically.
