We would like to eventually transfer our extensions of CAS to you, if you

I'd like to start by finding out how the CAS team feels about that.
I think you'll only get a sense of "team" by the feedback of
individual committers. I'm personally very interested in this
collaboration.
The code we want to share is now on my github:
https://github.com/dagit/grid2-als
I forked that from our internal development branch so that:
a) we can apply an Apache 2 license, hopefully making inclusion
easier (the next time we release to our clients we will make sure to
present them with an Apache 2 license instead of BSD3)
b) this code can evolve independently of the bug fixes/changes
schedule that we may have for our current clients
Eventually we will want to resolve any differences between the code on
github and in our internal repository, but this way we can worry about
that later and deliveries to our client won't be delayed due to
discussions here vice versa.
If you're amenable to taking over the code, then we
can discuss fitting the code into the project's standards and what ever
other work is required to make the hand off.
I'm cautious about taking on the maintenance burden of additional
integration code. Typically we require a maintainer of an integration
piece before we would accept it into the core distribution. That
seems reasonable to me -- someone at Galois would take point on
maintenance with support from the core CAS development team. Does
that sound reasonable to you?
Our team here has discussed this. We agree that you are absolutely right
to be cautious. We would like for this code to be something that the CAS
team wants to take over but we also understand that for that to happen
we need to stick around to support it. For now, since I'm on your
mailing list already I can be your point of contact with Galois.
Please let us know what you think of the code.
Thank you,
Jason
