My comment is: I recently tried to use simple_views and it didn't prove
helpful.
The simple views not being kept up to date was a (minor, overcomable)
stumbling block on a recent CAS customization project.
Likewise, the complexity of the default views versus the simplest thing
that could possibly work was a (minor, overcomable) stumbling block on
that project.
I appreciate that it's real effort to maintain simple_views, so I'm not
looking to weigh in strongly on what CAS *should* do here, only to
register that I was tripped up by the state of simple views recently.

I've never used them and I wasn't responsible for their creation so
I've never bothered to keep them updated. I'm wondering if anyone
uses them or if our default ones are simple enough examples for others
to modify/use?
