Coming from 3.x you are likely to have a bad time wrangling the customization stage.
Since I started reading these mails about a year ago, I have read one gifted person was able to self make an upgrade path from 3 to 5. IINM most peoples rework their CAS 5 customizations from scratch and from their clear list of requirements.
