Durga,
First, install the phpcas libraries in your PHP instance on the server.
Second, use the test client page code from the PHPCAS website to
verify correct configuration.
I would not feel confident learning with PHPCAS until I had completed
the above steps.
The flow is:
1. User http to your PHPCAS application - no PHPCAS session!
2. User redirected to CAS server with your application URL as a
parameter.
3. User authenticates to CAS (successfully).
4. User is redirected by CAS server to your application URL with
Ticket as get or post parameter.
5. CAS libraries receive and check the ticket over HTTPS with the CAS
server.
6. User gets the application page sent to them and a PHPCAS session is
created.
PHPCAS creates its own user ID and session variables, if I understand
correctly, which are available to your application. Once you have a
PHPCAS session you can use it directly in your app or create your own
session.
