I was successful doing my implementations in steps.  Are you using a
service account initially to maintain a connection via LDAPS prior to
any authentication checks (lookups) ?

And, are you a Java guy or a Microsoft guy?  If you're the Java guy
doing the CAS implementation find a Microsoft guy to help you
determine things when your starting the deployment that includes the
LDAP authentication module and when you submit the LDAP query with the
user credentials.

Let me know where your implementation stands (status).  Have you
completely built the server WAR with the LDAP module?
