All, our users login to CAS with a numeric id, and all apps are configured with this id as their security object id.
We have been asked if it is possible to allow users to login with an alias instead of their numeric id, because it is easier to remember this. (Historically, one of our portals has allowed users to login with either their numeric id or their email address, both with the same password; they want to replicate this functionality) We use MS-AD as the backend datastore, but have the email address in the "mail" attribute of the AD LDAP object, and in a separate database (the historic app, written in class ASP, which is being modified to handle cas.) Is this at all possible easily (ie. with config changes, instead of a new authentication class) ? If they login with the alias name, how would we get the numeric ID to our apps ? Thanks for any ideas you might have to get us looking in the right (any :-) ) direction.
