I'm sure that's fairly common. In our case it's actually tit for tat -- we've agreed with UVA to exchange some space at sister sites for each other's hardware. While this arrangement has some fundamental obstacles and limitations, I think it's actually a pretty interesting model that fits well with the higher education spirit of openness and sharing.
