Thanks Larry,
When I mean that I have 62000 users I mean the total users but the real users
who they are using the system everyday it is about 15000 unique user and the
total is about 18000 user per day.
Most of them they are using blackboard (LMS) and other systems like (Drupal,
Gmail emails and apps, Kayako, Phpscheduleit system)
I will do your suggestion to monitor the memory on my server.
Regards,Amjad

Hi Amjad,

My understanding is that the amount of memory it requires depends on the kind
of applications being used. But we could definitely make an estimation. One
thing
I have in mind is to use system monitoring tool to capture the memory usage
for current online users and then predicate the maximum memory needed when all
possible users are online (in your case 62000) by calculating the average
amount of memory individual
session requires. There may be a better way to do this, please advise if
anyone has more experience of this matter.

Thanks,
Larry

Hi Larry,

For how many user the single server can hold, for example we have 58000
students and 4000 faculty member, or how can i calculate the amount memory.

We are still in testing environment and we will go live using CAS by
15/01/2013, we have a single VM with 8 GB of memory, 4 core CPU and 100 GB HD.

Also we a second VM holding the MYSQL database for CAS management service.

is this enough to hold the above number of users.

Regards,

Amjad

Larry,

(This is a post along the lines of what I sent you directly earlier this
morning, for everyone's benefit. :) )

Congratulations on your upgrade.

The short version is that any halfway-decent recent server you've got is fine.
Really. CAS runs on commodity server hardware, no worries. I like isolating
CAS from other
applications on principle, but if you wanted it would almost certainly run
fine alongside anything else you've got on any server you're already running.

CAS doesn't do much. Needs some RAM to store the ticker registry. Needs some
disk to write log files. You're probably offloading SSL to something in front
of it so it doesn't
 even have much CPU load.

Kind regards,

Andrew

Hi,

We are currently upgrading our CAS to the latest version 3.5.1. What is the
minimal system requirements for it?

Thank you very much,
