So it was as easy as changing...

    <properties>
        <cas.version>3.4.12</cas.version>
        <apache.commons.pool.version>1.5.6</apache.commons.pool.version>
        <ehcache.version>2.5.0</ehcache.version>
        <cas-addons.version>1.0</cas-addons.version>
    </properties>

to...

    <properties>
        <cas.version>3.5.1</cas.version>
        <apache.commons.pool.version>1.5.6</apache.commons.pool.version>
        <ehcache.version>2.5.0</ehcache.version>
        <cas-addons.version>1.2</cas-addons.version>
    </properties>

in the pom.xml file and it all works like magic???

Or did I miss something?
