We've discovered unusual occurances where certain apps occasionally generate a large number of CAS service ticket requests and validations within a short window of time. We have seen these on the order of ~1500/minute for anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours in duration. When this occurs, it's for a seemingly arbitrary user of the app. We've only seen this with three of our several hundred registered applications/service URLs.
My current hypothesis is that this is some sort of pathological behaviour in the apps since they're actually closing the CAS protocol loop with service ticket request followed by a subsequent validation of that ticket. Is this reasonable or should I be disabused of this notion? Has anyone else noticed anything like this or have theories as to what might be going on? We are running cas-server-3.4.11. There doesn't seem to be significant impact on the CAS service itself that we've noticed so far, but it has come to our attention and it's definitely non-optimal.
