I think it would be useful to include in that table a number that's etched on the PCBs. In the case of the two PCBs I've been responsible for the Fab drawing number is on the boards:
64-channel, 12-bit = Fab Dwg R280
1-channel 3GSPS 8-bit or 2channel 1.5GSPS 8-bit = Fab Dwg R270
That way you won't make a mistake and order the wrong bare PCB

Hi Dan,

I don't care in the slightest what the names are.

I do care that 1 and only 1 name be used for any board.
Or there is a complete name translation table readily available.

So for example, say I want to purchase a blank PCB for what is listed
below as the ADC2x1000-8. In the past I have always had to ask
Cirexx or Streamline or whomever to quote a 196-002 board.
Not "ADC v1.1" not "BEE2 ADC board" and not "ADC2x1000-8".

So my vote is:
please change to whatever name you and the others want.
And then publicly release a name translation table so that one can
map that new name to actual purchasable entities.

dear casper collaborators,

we now have five adc boards that can
plug into ibob's and roach's, and there
is some confusion about what to call them.

we had a discussion about ADC nomenclature yesterday,
and we suggest the following names:

ADC2x1000-8
is the casper dual iADC: 2 inputs, 1000Msps, 8 bit
(atmel/e2v adc, which can also be used
    as single 2Gsps)

there are two versions of this ADC:
   ADC2x1000-8-V1.0
   ADC2x1000-8-V1.1 (different balun)

ADC2x1500-8
    dual 8 bit, 1500Msps
    this board contains national ADC08D1500

ADC1x3000-8
    single 8 bit, 3000Msps
same board, but stuffed with national ADC083000

ADC4x250-8
quad adc, 250 Msps, 8 bit

ADC64x64-12
64 channels, 64Msps, 12 bit, double wide board

is this OK with everyone?
suggestions?

best wishes,

dan
