I think the ATA usage does not provide relevant info for this question. At the ATA, the coefficients in an ibob are updated at a maximum of once per second, so any one ibob doesn't get very many bits per second pushed into it. The control software uses a TCP (aka telnet) connection to the ibobs and sends tinyshell commands, which I'm sure ends up being sub-optimal in terms of max data rate.
