I'm guessing you would recommend Linux over Windows, right?
I'm still investigating the 11.x flow on Linux. It's not ready for
prime-time yet: I sometimes have Matlab disappearing on me, compiles
that sometimes take significantly longer (22hrs), ridiculous memory
usage (over 16GB) etc etc.
Hm, this sounds exactly like my experience with 10.1 under 32-bit
Windows XP when compiling large designs for ROACH. Windows seems to be
completely incapable of efficiently managing the huge amounts of memory
required.
Since switching to 11.x under 64-bit Linux, my compiles finish
significantly faster (designs that took 20hrs+ now take 3hrs). Matlab
seems to crash just as much (no more, no less). I've come to accept
random crashes as expected Matlab behavior.
Sorry for such an unconstructive post, but my experience has been the
exact opposite of what Jason is describing.
