So far, RAL's main users of the Roach1 systems are Don Backer's PAPER
system. Rack space isn't so restricted (yet) so we are getting away with
less than 100% rack packing. The 1.3U Roach1 systems are resting on fixed
shelves; not sliding rails.
We do have but have not tried yet a set of the Accuride C3307-20D rack
mount rails as used on the BEE2 systems. That might be a viable
scheme for an additional $80/Roach1 or so.

Hi Andrew,
Assuming you have the standard chassis from Digicom, you likely have
an iStarUSA D-107 chassis. It is actually an odd size at 1.3U; a
ROACH won't fit in a 1U because of the height of the CX4 assembly
(as you've observed).

It looks like iStar has sliding rail kits that you could get, though I
don't know specifically that they've been tried.
Matt--
You tend to do things proper; are the PAPER ROACHs in RAL racked?
Thanks,

I decided it's time to rack up our ROACH boards. The cases they come
in are really oddly sized, though -- they seem to be about 1.5U with
the holes in the middle, which might as well be 2U in terms of space
taken. Even worse, they only have ears (not rails), so I'm a bit
nervous about having empty space between them.
Does anyone have any good solutions? Maybe a different case to put
the ROACHes in that's really 1U? The only think that looks even close
to 1.75 inches high is the CX4 port thing.
