Hi Kris,
do any of you know if there exist chips that convert from LVDS to SFP+ or from XAUI to SFP+? Other than chips, do you know if there are any products that perform this function?
The LVDS interface to PHYs is called XGMII, try looking for that: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/10_Gigabit_Media_Independent_Interface The FPGA vendor IP cores may use this term for the internal connection between their MAC IP block and their hard-IP PHYs that are on the board. But their IP almost certainly supported an external LVDS interface in the past. You might have some luck looking at the IP data books to see what external PHYs they have been tested with. That'll give you a few vendor names. Looks like Vitesse has parts http://www.nuhorizons.com/featuredproducts/volume5/Vitesse/Ethernet_PHY/ethernet_optical_phy.asp I'd guess that NetLogic and Broadcom probably also have (or had) something too. Cheers, Dave
