Hi All,
A new block called 'Gaussian Random Number Generator' has been checked
into the CASPER Git repository last week (in Revision No.582c5e4). It has been
checked in the 'Sources' sub-directory.
The main aim behind designing this block was to have a low foot-print
Gaussian noise source for testing the CASPER hardware designs during
development. The block uses 1-2% of Virtex-5 resources for one noise source.
The noise source generates a pair of uncorrelated noise and each noise data
is available as four parallel output streams, which are directly
compatible iADC outputs. It does not use any specific hardware resources
like Block RAMs or multipliers etc.
Basic details are provided within the block at each hierarchical level. In
the mean time, more details would be uploaded on the wiki subsequently.
The block has been tested with pocket correlator design.
I hope the new block will be useful for testing of CASPER based
signal processing designs. The block is still evolving; your suggestions /
feedback would be very useful in refining it. You can send an email to me
in case of any queries related to the design.
Thanks & Regards,
