Unfortunately one needs to set it on the other end of a roach (switch, PC). On some roach boards (and with certain switches) a reset of the phy confuses the interface, and forcing it to 100Mbit after that doesn't help. It is a problem I haven't gotten to the bottom of. Actually it is unclear if it even can be solved in software - if anybody has the time and inclination to work on the problem, make contact. Anyway for roach2 we are using a different phy. Usually for roach1 the simplest solution is to find an old 10/100Mbit switch and put your roaches behind it. regards marc
