Good idea, but so far not working out....

The standard EPD seems too bit to unpack on the USB stick (I'm not out of
spcae - it looks like a file size issue)

The EPD_free which is a lightweight verison and ought to be very suitable
is built against python 2.7 and from various googling it looks like 2.7
will be impossible to install on ETCH.

Is Enthought still do a python2.5 version (it looks
like I'd need version 5.1 rather than 7.3)?

Hi Monika,

You may want to consider using the Enthought Python Distribution:

http://www.enthought.com/products/epd.php

They have a free academic license. You just have to show that you have
an academic email address. It includes all of the standard libraries
(numpy, scipy, matplotlib) properly cross compiled and installs with a
very simple shell script.

Best,
Laura
