place in B1 from now on. ***

Joeri van Leeuwen (ASTRON)
Latest pulsar results from LOFAR

The Dutch/European Low Frequency Array LOFAR provides exceptional
collecting area and bandwidth. In the commissioning phase, LOFAR collected
much high-quality data. I will describe some of the initial results, on
low-frequency behavior in M87; deep LOFAR epoch of reionization
observations toward the north celestial pole; recombination lines; and our
ionosphere. I will then present in some more detail the results from our
two complementary pilot pulsar surveys, and several other pulsar
commissioning projects -- mostly on neutron-star magnetospheres. Finally I
will sketch some of the dedicated and open-time projects that have started
in the current cycle, and describe the current state of the continuously
improving observing capabilities.

Joeri got his PhD at the University of Utrecht. After a postdoc at the
University of British Columbia, he came to Berkeley where he worked on
digital instrumentation and pulsar studies, including work with the Allen
Telescope Array. He is now at the Netherlands Institute for Radio Astronomy
(ASTRON) working on LOFAR, APERTIF, and other projects.

*** We will take Joeri for lunch, leaving from outside B building promptly
at 12pm. We will also be going for a quick beer at Jupiter later, leaving
from outside B building at 5pm. ***

If you would like to set up a meeting with Joeri today or tomorrow morning,
please contact him directly at [email protected]
