In field deployment of the LEDA
correlator over the last week,
we encountered significant difficulty
stacking our 16 ROACH2s (rev2) in 16U.
We measured the ROACH2 enclosure
dimensions and found that they are not
to EIA specification:
1U == 1.75" = 44.45 mm
1U frontplate = 44.45 mm
1U chassis = 43.66 mm
Screw pattern 5/8" 5/8" 1/2"
We found:
ROACH2 = 44.48 mm front plate
44.49 mm body
The ROACH2 rev2 faceplate is correct
or close to correct, but the enclosure
definitely is 0.82mm too tall. In
the end, we were forced to leave gaps
every fourth ROACH and were fortunate
that by chance our v. tight racking plan could
accommodate this.
Have others in CASPER had difficulty
stacking ROACH2 (rev2) enclosures
(1U per systen)?
We think that Rurik and Jonathan
have not had difficulty w/ ROACH2
(rev1).
Best,
Lincoln (+ Jonathon, Danny, and Ben)
