I've done some work on that block and it definitely has some bugs. I suggest making a model with the gavrt vacc block which I made a long time ago and is much more thoroughly tested, and then comparing the behavior to the xblocks version and finding the issues for your particular use case that way. The block needs some maintenance but I haven't had the time myself.
