Regards, Andrew The UC Berkeley Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) Research Center (BSRC) invites applicants for a postdoctoral scholar research position. An additional appointment at the post-baccalaureate level, Junior Specialist, may be available if an exceptionally qualified candidate is identified. These full time positions are for two or three years with a starting date in early 2015. The BSRC comprises more than a dozen members from several academic departments at UC Berkeley, including Astronomy, Physics and Electrical Engineering / Computer Science. Together our group conceives and conducts experiments to detect evidence of extraterrestrial intelligence. We are vigorously engaged in new instrumentation development at radio, infrared and optical wavelengths, including high performance DSP development in conjunction with the Collaboration for Astronomy Signal Processing and Electronics Research (CASPER). This position is based at the UC Berkeley Space Sciences Laboratory, but significant collaboration with the Physics, Astronomy and EECS Departments is expected. The successful applicant will undertake well-motivated independent research in SETI, taking advantage of our groups existing resources and commensal experiments as necessary. This is primarily a SETI position, but concurrent exploration of other domains, e.g. astrophysical transients, will be encouraged. Minimum qualifications for the postdoctoral position: Applicants should have, or be in the later stages of completing, a PhD or equivalent in astronomy, physics, electrical engineering, computer science or related disciplines at the time of application.
