Hi Indrajit,
This all looks fine. Note that you'll need an SD card for the Pi and a
cable to connect it. Eg https://www.adafruit.com/product/862
In future, it might be better to send emails about things like this to
the maillist, so others get the info too. I'll do my best to update
the wiki so that there are part numbers for accessories.
Thanks
Jack

Dear Jack / Mo,
I found the following items go with SNAP board
1) Dual SFP+ NIC card from Intel:
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833106044 =
~149
USD
2) Transceiver infused Copper cable 3m #30862 : from FS.com:
https://www.fs.com/products/21278.html = ~15 X 2 USD = 30 USD
3) Raspberrypi 2 B: raspberry pi
http://www.newark.com/raspberry-pi/rpi2-modb-v1-2/sbc-raspberry-pi-2-model-b-v1/dp/95Y1948?src=raspberrypi
= ~ 35 USD
Jack Kindly check and let me know.
Thanks everyone

Any SFP+ module *should* work with the SNAP. Switch/NIC vendors
create artificial checks to reject cables and transceivers from
other
manufacturers. The SNAP doesn't do this.
We have been using 10GBASE-LR, 10GBASE-SR fiber transceivers, and
copper cables from fs.com [1] [1]

If you already have a mellanox cable, I expect it will work. As I
say,
there should be no limitations.

Hello Jack,
I enquired with the local vendor and digicom for the SFP+
transceivers model number. Because SFP+ comes with generalized
and
model specific (hp,juniper, etc). Can I get the part number which
UCB
uses for their SNAP board. I found SFP+ nice from mellanox.
Looking for your reply.
I am cc'ing mo . So that I can buy everything in one order.
With thanks and regards

hi indrajit,
i'm adding jack hickish, snap expert.
1)
you'll need 12 volts, >=2 amps. switching power supply is OK.
do you want to use the board or in the field?
in the lab, we use $50 lab bench power supplies with meters and
knobs.
in the field, we sometimes purchase a fixed voltage supply.
if it's near the antenna you might consider a linear supply -
less
efficient, but less RFI.
2) sorry i don't know the r pi models...
jack knows what rpi's work and what don't.
We currently use rpi 2 and 3 boards. The 3 had WiFi (though you
can
disable it), so usually we avoid it for field deployments.
The RPi B+ should also work, if you have some of those spare.
Cheers
Jack
3) there is no SFP+ to CX4 cable that will convert the 10Gbit
SFP+
single lane data format to 4x2.5Gbit lanes of CX4.
the cable in your pdf document will not convert the data - it
won't work.
if you want to get 10Gbit ethernet data from your snap into a
computer,
you'll need to purchase and SFP+ 10Gbit etherent PCIe NIC board
(eg: from mellanox)
as an SFP+ to SFP+ cable (either optical or copper cables and
transceivers).
best wishes,
dan

Hello dan
We do have a plan to buy the SNAP board. I am just collecting the
accessories list need to be ordered along with the board. I do
have
few queries choosing them.
1) +12 V supply any recommended model is there ?
2) Raspberry pi : any particular model number ?
3) SFP+ to CX4 cable (10Gbe) ?
Since I do have 10Gbe CX4 PCIe card.
Looking for the reply
Thanks
