Dear CASPER community: My lab has recently brought up a linux GPU server. in breathing software life into it we seem to have pulled a corrupted yum and installed a virus that does bitcoin mining.
It doesn't seem to be particularly malicious except for chewing up your compute cycles. Nevertheless, you probably don't want this on your machines. try ps aux | grep minerd If you get a hit, it's time to start gritting your teeth. The virus seems to be smart enough to deal with simple attempts to kill it, so you may have your work cut out for you. ------- other than that, Happy New Year.
