Hi CASPERites, After more than ten years of preparation, the QTT (QiTai radio Telescope) project was officially launched in 2022. In order to provide scientists with the best observation instruments, QTT plan to use the most advanced signal processing technology such as RF-direct sampling, ultra-wideband signal receiving and processing, PAF adaptive beamforming, Alveo card acceleration, etc. To complete these great tasks, the QTT team is now recruiting digital backend engineers worldwide. We sincerely invite you to join and help us achieve this goal together.
The recruitment requirements are as follows: Job responsibilities: 1. Work with the R&D group to design, construct, develop and test the next generation digital signal processing platform for QTT. 2. Assist with the development of RFSoC, using Vivado, Vitis or CASPER development platform. 3. Work with the design and building of astronomy signal processing pipeline for the observation of pulsar, FRB, spectra-line, continuum and VLBI. 4. Documenting the software, hardware and processing pipeline. 5. Performs other assignments as required. Qualifications: 1. Strong experience on RFSoC/FPGA development and test. 2. Strong experience on GPU programming using language of CUDA, or experience on Alveo cards programming and development. 3. Experience on astronomy signal processing. 4. Experience on C/C++, Python programming, etc. 5. Competency with linux-based operating systems. 6. Experience with the CASPER toolflow or Xilinx software. 7. Astronomy data analysis and reduction. Candidates with PhD are preferred. This is five years project, the salary is start at ~210,000 CNY/year, with an additional 1,700 CNY housing subsidy per month. Candidates can apply for a Chinese talent plan to obtain personal subsidies and research funds (Please contact for details). The work location is in Urumqi, Xinjiang, China. Introduction of Steerable 110-m Aperture Radio Telescope Project The Steerable 110-m Aperture Radio Telescope, also known as the ‘QiTai radio Telescope’ (QTT), is planned to be built in Qitai county of Xinjiang. QTT is a radio telescope with a fully steerable 110-m aperture antenna supported by single beam receivers and multi-beam/PAF receivers, making it capable of observing at frequency bands between 150 MHz and 115 GHz. QTT will have the advantages of high sensitivity, broad observation frequency and wide sky coverage excellent for important scientific objectives, including detection of gravitational waves with pulsar timing array (PTA), fast radio burst (FRB), star formation, exploration in the formation of organic macromolecules and the origin of life. It will also be an important platform for deep space exploration and space-time reference technology innovation.
