It assists graduate students and faculty researchers in Physics, Applied Physics, Engineering, and other departments with all areas of electronics: from simple stuff (like making instruments talk to each other), to custom instrument design and fabrication (signal sampling, conversion, processing), to connecting to cryogenic or vacuum systems, to troubleshooting (why doesn't my 5V logic signal go through 10' of cable? why is smoke coming out of this expensive piece of equipment?). It involves analog and digital design, involving, variously, the areas of low-noise, precision, sensors, RF, PCB layout, FPGA and microcontroller electronics.
