Henry,

Slow performance ? I have not seen that ... and I am loading a good size object graph for this application (maybe 5 or 6 children deep).

I do not know how you are implementing it, or what platform ... so this leads a lot of issues open ... can you tell me what you are doing exactly ?

I have found some issues, mostly by my just learning OQL and the Castor API's and the like, in regards to object relations.

I was not always able to load child objects, but largely due to the schema. There is a bug, for example, with PK/FK and compound keys, I have many tables that sought out this bug ... so had to load children separately.

But, for other relations, I load them no problem. Again, your mileage may vary, but it is not really much slower than pure JDBC. Have you investigated connection pooling, or caching ?

Regards,

Peter

Peter,

Can you share with us which are those "caveats" that you are experiencing?
And what are your solutions/workaround so far?

(We are going into production soon and so far the slow performance on JDO
is our main concern.)

Rajesh,

I have used Castor JDO in a production environment and it performs quite
well .. much better than an EJB solution as well (less overhead).

That said, there are some caveats ... it is not perfect, no solution truly
is ... but, depending on your object graph, works quite well.

Also, the speed to delivery and development is very good, thus reducing
direct costs.

Hope this helps,

Peter
