my 2 cents coming up. My original bronze hull fittings on my 1976 boat were not leaking, but as a test I tried to turn the  head fitting by hand gently.  It came off in my hand.  And I was not on the hard.  An interesting few moments. If I could show you the corrosion caused by electrolyses on the piece I found my self staring at stupidly, you'd take every precaution to keep the fittings accessible you could think of.  I do, now.
