I transported a C270 for a fellow club member last Friday and it went off perfectly. There was a moment as we approached a narrow RR underpass but she squeaked through fine.
One comment, we floated her off at her destination just fine, but it is very risky to float on to a trailer that has not been fit to a hull first. This particular boat was holed by a transport company trying to do just that on its trip down for other repairs. The last time I picked a boat up that had not been fit to my trailer I hired a diver and we spent 45 minutes setting, testing, and tweaking before she came out.
Our trailer has a few distinct advantages a fore-aft adjustable bow stop, the ability to kneel (lower its nose), and electric over hydraulic disc brakes. If you buy a new trailer plan then plan on being hoisted on. If logistically this is a nightmare then ask the trailer manufacturer if there is a way to get the trailer rails kneeling so they are level on a 10° ramp. A first time fit gets easy in calm water if the rails are leveled to the water.

We're in the market to move up from our C22 to either a C27 or C30 and we're located in upstate New York. So far the boats we're interested in are in New England or around the Chesapeake. Since I can't commit the time to deliver a boat the way I'd like to, does anyone on the list have any experience shipping a C27 in this general area?
Specifically, how much did it cost to go what distance, and was the trucker dead-heading after the delivery? Any recommendations or warnings would also be appreciated.
Thanks.
