Bob, my 86 model has a very dry lazerette.  It actually drains back to the bilge.  Later boats have different plumbing systems.

Simple solution is to freely discharge the bilge pump into the wet lazarette, not directly overboard. That breaks syphon. Lazarette drains when drain gets above water.
