Did you end up using 2 rings or 3 or more?  Was it the 3/16"?

I haven't used that, but I use the Gore packing and I have had great results.

I would be skeptical of any packing that touts itself as completely dripless.  However, with the Gore, I have it adjusted for zero drip when not under power, and about a drip per minute under power.  If you have it tightened to be drip free, check the shaft temperature after some motoring and make sure you are not burning up the packing.

West Marine sells a dripless packing material for use instead of flax packing. Has anyone had experience with this product?
