Just got back from the Leukemia & Lymphoma Regatta kickoff at Balmer Museum of Industry. Gary Jobson was there, looking absolutely great and showing some great footage of Volvo racers, future US Olympians, and transatlantic racing. A superb time, and we saw TF, his lovely bride, and Chris & Chris D.
Got me really excited to see the Volvos when they arrive in the Chesapeake (circa 4/17 or so). Saw a video of "Pirates" surfing down a wave that made me want to swim out there to join them. We should take action on how many will find uncharted mud shoaling during the in-harbor race. They may have to cant their keels just to avoid running aground - I think they draw about 15' keel down.
For those in the viewing area, Gary mentioned that he is on Maryland Public TV on Saturdays at 6pm with weekly updates from the Volvo.
