Hello Larry. That certainly would be the way to go if I had a sliding
gooseneck connection (which I don't, but which I may convert to), but with
a four-bolt fixed connection, it makes moving/removing the boom a bit more
of a job. Not out of the question, though.

most of the year, and you only use the mast slot when putting the sail on
in the spring and taking it off in the fall. Why not just slide the boom
down and out the sail slot and out of the way when installing and removing
your main, twice a year?
