Hi Dave,  If you look at the bottom of the page http://www.lesleyquin.com/catalina27.html  you'll see a bracket that a friend of mine installed on his 74 C27. Doesn't look all that bad when the motor is mounted on it.  Allows him to tilt it up and down....no problem.

Subject: catalina27-talk: Another Outboard question

People,

I have a 73 OB model with a new, well almost, 2 years old Merc 9,9 Bigfoot now installed in the lazarette.  Problem is there is no way to get that sucker out of the water.
Looking for some advise on 2 solutions that I am considering.

1) Re enforcing the "plate" that fits the laz. hole, glassing it in and installing the Garelick bracket with 15" vertical travel and supports 165 lbs.  My motor weighs 125.

or

2) Installing the bracket directly into the transom "corner" like the Cat. 25 setup.  This system obviously works for the 25, and would obviously save some work and expense.

or

3) Your solution that has worked for you, given the fact that there is no way I can cut out the transom enough to tilt the Merc in the current opening.

Thanks, as always

PS if anyone is interested in a 27 hull....lost her rig the spring, there is one for sale by a salvage company...don't know the particulars other than Atomic 4 and dinette interior.  Motor was running fine when she lost her rig.
