I'm with tf here.  I think the sail is probably a bit blown out and taking it above midships probably gives it a better shape the further up you go on the sail (again where the stronger wind typically is and therefor more power).   Open slot works too.    We always just go by the telltales if they are flying freely, go for it.    Chris D toy box eastport, md
