Thanks Tim. Do you, or others, leave it hooked to the bridle on the mast
when not in use? I see some boats leave it on the mast but the end to
the clew is laying on the deck.

correct.  12.2 is it.

most likely that is spin pole length.  whisker poles are generally
shorter, smaller diameter, unbridled poles that are used to pole out the

clew of a genoa on a reach.

a pole longer than the J is usually called a "cheater" pole, even if
they are legal for certain classes.  like the C22, apparently.
