As an aside, the Omega 36 I sometimes crew on (going to Charleston Race Week next week--YAY!) they have a carbon pole and they actually leave it attached to the mast when racing BECAUSE the pole lying there actually helps the headsail ride smoothly over the deck when tacking. so there are no hard and fast rules, just whatever works best for you and your crew. have fun! tf Jones, Lance B wrote: > Thanks Tim.
