Wow. Sorry to hear of your plight! I had similar damage to my C-22 racer
that I rebuilt. I did the very thing you described and it worked well.

Good Morning all:
Impulsive broke free last fall during a nasty storm and pounding
herself against the finger before I could tie her down. The attached
shows the damage to the starboard corner of the transom. Been reading
Casey, West System and surfing the net looking for information. One
approach - sand edges of damaged area to a beveled edge, apply filler
(resin+hardener+fairing filler), sand then paint.
Any thoughts, ideas?
