I have an 87 with universal diesel. I have a new thermostat to install. Thise who have done it, I plan to lower coolant level below thermosat level, remove the housing, i think two screws. Does it just sit in the housing? Is there a gasket that I need to have on hand to reinstall? Any suggestions will be appreciated. I hope this solves my "underheating" problem. I sail lake michigan and can't get the engine temp up, otherwise engine runs great, starts every time with 15-20 seconds on the glow plugs. Bill Walker Gayle Gal Pentwater, Mi.
