I have long thought of an a-symmetrical symmetrical kite for reaching. That
being a kite that measures sym. but the shape is a-sym, draft "forward" and a
flat exit "aft" with a distinct tack and clew. Around here we do a lot of
reaching races on Wed nite and (seems like anyway) all of our distance races. I
have talked to several sailmakers and they all agree it would be a killer sail
for the condition but nobody wants to build one.
As far as your question, I would look for a .75 oz sail (unless you have a lot
of "big" air then 1.5 oz.) that is cut flat with narrowed shoulders (100
degrees or less) as opposed to your (I'm guessing here) .6 poly runner w.110
degree shoulders. The .75 could also be used for running in heavy air w/ a
little more control.

I have a really full symmetrical spinnaker that only works well for running
up to broad reach and am looking for something that will reach better,
hopefully with reasonable running performance. The is for local club racing.
Blue Heaven is a 1972 standard rig. If you are familiar with North's
designations, this would be a cross between a 2S and 3S. Are there any good
suggestions?

  Thanks,
