On the second of two nights moored off of Yorktown during the weekend, I awoke about an hour before dawn to find that my "Service On" light -- which normally serves as my cabin night light -- was off. My first panicky thought was that I had drained my batteries after two nights of anchor light and cabin light use (highly improbable, since I have two batteries, but worse things have happened). I had the selector switch pointing to my number two battery. I switched it over to number one. Still no light. Same when I selected "both". I checked the cabin lights. They worked. My anchor light was working. I wasn't reassured by this since my guess is these lights don't take much current. Would I be able to crank the engine? That was my main worry. Not wanting to disturb my wife who was sleeping like a baby, I waited sleepless until sun-up to go to the cockpit to try turning over the engine. It started with no problem. So, my first guess is that I have a burned out service light. What else might I be looking at? I assume that the bulb is original equipment (1989), so it's had a good long life. Are these easily replaced?
