This fall, I started casually looking at boats to replace my '86 C27 when I retire in a couple years. I want something to put on Kentucky Lake but capable of cruising down to the gulf. 80 doesn't even come close in new boats. So I'm quickly in the used boat market, but I also discover there's a lot of choice and value there.
May not have the "grin factor", but a 20 year old boat, well maintained, is just getting started, and I can probably compete weekends on an inland lake (at least if I off load all the crusing weight the accumulates in the ends of boats). C34, open transom? Maybe. I'm sort of in the market for a new boat, and have just been kinda strolling thru the aisles, looking around. There are a zillion offerings out there and it's probably a great time to buy a boat....a USED boat. I was looking at a new Antrim 27 and all-up, that baby is going to come home at almost 80!!! EIGHTY!! 80 large for a freaking boat you wouldnt want to weekend on!!! (but you'd have fun, at least on a daily basis) SO, when I saw Bob Perry's review saying a C 28 comes in at "comfortably less than 50," well, I guess there's some hope. That sounds like it's at least approaching some sort of reasonable value...although that 50 wouldn't include the grin-factor of the Antrim, you wouldn't need to sell a kidney on eBay. rant over....anyway, I still cant afford either. I'm just amazed at what these things cost in light of what 25 Large will buy you in the automotive realm. Economy of scale, I know. tf [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > in 1994 someone I met had just put a deposit down on a 270.
