Typically on 12v marine electrical systems the positive side will lead back to
the panel and the ground side goes to one (or more, depending on layout and
location)) main ground wire(s) that should run around the boat and the negative
side of your "appliances" will just "tap" this lead at a convenient location
behind the device. In other words, the neg. side doesn't lead back to a central
location as does the pos. side.

Subject: catalina27-talk: Catalina 27 Appliance Ground Wires

  Hi,

I am a brand new C27 owner and member of the Association. Thanks in advance
for any advice you can offer on my boat's electrical system.

My first question is: where are my appliance ground wires? I have diagrammed
my electrical system carefully and found all the positive appliance wires. They
are bundled and colored coded just as the C27 manual indicates they should be.
Now, I just need to locate the ground wires and be sure they're hooked up
properly. But tracing them is difficult as they all seem to run through the
deck around the cabin.

Where do the ground wires typically end on a C27?

  Thanks again!

  Matthew T
