Congratulation on your 1978 C27! It's going to be a real fun sailboat. I got my 85 a little over two years ago and have had a blast with it.
One of my first investments was a good ratcheting wire crimper. The factory did not know how to crimp on wire terminals. I wound up replacing all Catalina wire harness push on spade terminals at the switch panel. I could pull off all of the old ones by hand. The crimper was a little over $60 two years ago, WM now lists it at $104, and only sold at their Retail Stores. Wire seldom goes bad, don't fix what is not broken.
