We are in the midst of repowering our 1973 standard rig,
normal draft Catalina 27 from the 6hp Petter to the 11hp Universal
5411. I hope that it will be possible to repitch our existing 12 x 8
prop to use the additional power.
Questions for Universal 5411 powered C27 owners: What diameter
and pitch of prop are you using? If possible, what is the rear ratio of your
tranny? In our case the Petter has a 2:1 tranny, the Universal has 1.8:1
gears. How well does your system work? ie What's your max speed and rpm? Does
anyone
know what dimension prop was factory installed on Universal 5411
equipped C27s?
