I have a two bank system. Both banks are group 24's from MK Batteries. I am
kinda
forturnate that I am a technician that works with 24 and 12 volt systems
relating to hi-tech
systems in power wheelchairs. Both banks are from "take offs" of 80% or better
chairs. The batteries
that I am currently using are over 4 years old and still provide plently of
power for my needs. I use a
12 volt DC "smart charger" that conditions the batteries. I have never had any
problems with the
DC system on my boat. One bank is under the port side berth just aft of the
galley stove, the other
under the "coffin berth" on the starboard side. It really is overkill when you
think about it.
However, all the lighting on the boat is LED and the electonics are basic,
speed, depth and
kick ass stereo!
If you want, e-mail me off list and I can give you some ideas on how to save
$$$$$.

Does anyone have a recommendation as to batteries? Mine are slowly dying and I
need to replace them. Any advice would be appreciated.

How are you gonna do it? Crane? Gin pole, the 40 footer down the dock or a
bunch of buddies doing a reverse Iwo Jima?

Subject: catalina27-talk: Demasting a catalina 27

Anyone have any experience removing the mast from a catalina 27? I'll be
undertaking the task this weekend. Any good practices you have to offer would
be most welcome.

Thank you and happy sailing.
