Agree with you on all counts.
Imagine your skipper needs to duck below to put on foulies or something.
He (or she) hands off the wheel and
goes below, while a crewmember who has not joined USSailing steers for a
few minutes. Boat behind sees
crew at the helm, googles the crew's USSailing status, sees nothing and
protests....how eff'ed up would THAT be??
Yet distinctly possible under the proposal. Good on CBYRA for at least
getting a gauge on public sentiment!
