Mine is in the bilge.  It's fused separately and runs directly to one of the 
the batteries so that the pump can run via the float switch even with the 
master switch in the off position.

    The pump on my c-27 has a separate fuse for the float operation.  It's gone 
bad before (corroded).  When this happens, the pump will operate with the 
control panel switch but will not operate automatically with the float.  You 
might want to trace the wire back to see if there is an inline fuse holder with 
a bad fuse before you replace the float or switch..

      This is not related to my leaking fuel tank, I swear!  I think the pump 
stopped working last fall.  I did check the fuse in the electrical panel and it 
is still good.  Raising the float does nothing.  The float was replaced when I 
bought the boat in '98; the pump doesn't look much older.  How do I determine 
whether the problem is in the float or the pump?  Or do I just replace both 
with a pump with an integrated float?
